We'll Miss You, Fred.

Yesterday afternoon the Jacksonville Jaguars released their star running back, Fred Taylor. Freddy spent his entire 11 years in the NFL with the Jaguars, which is very rare for players today. He was drafted as a rookie in 1998 and finished his time with the Jaguars with 11,271 rushing yards. He was 16th all-time in the NFL in rushing yards!

Its kind of sad to see Fred go, although it is time to pass the torch to Maurice Jones-Drew. I remember when he joined the team when I was 13 years old! Back then Fred was just a punk with gold teeth and lots of newly aquired money. But Fred quickly matured and became known as the leader of the Jaguars, trading his gold teeth for the "C" patch on his jersey.

It was a good run, Fred. You have the respect and love of the Jaguar Nation. Thanks for the hard work, the inspiration, and the leadership. We'll miss you.

It really stinks the way they treated him in all of this. I read the article on jacksonville.com, and F. T. said that he even offered to take a pay cut so he could stay but they all said no. It seems a little dirty to me that they'd do this when he's done so much for the team.

Yea, thats kind of rotten, but its a business and I guess they figured it was better for the team to just move on. Maybe they're really ready for Mojo to step up and fill that leadership role that Fred had occupied. It'd be really hard for Mojo to fully display his potential while standing in Fred Taylor's shadow. The Jag's did the same thing with Leftwich. Rather than make him a backup, they decided it'd be better to just cut Leftwich. It'd have been hard for David to be the leader he needed to be while having to still see the guy whose job he just took every day.

Yeah, when I saw it on sportscenter yesterday...I couldn't believe it. Fred has done so much for the Jags. Fred and MJD had such a good relationship and worked so well together. I wish they would've kept him on and let him retire as a Jag.

Yea I agree, Laura. I also think Fred would make a good coach, especially since all the players on the team have such a high level of respect for him. Fred's been in the league a long time and has alot of experience. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in that role sometime in the future after he's decided to retire from being a player.

Oh yea, don't try and pretend like you watch Sports Center! Girls don't watch Sports Center!
